Abstract

The rapid advancement of Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen-AI), exemplified by tools such as ChatGPT and Canva AI, offers substantial opportunities to accelerate creative content production in Vocational High Schools (SMK). However, optimal utilization of these tools requires the ability to compose precise instructions through prompt engineering techniques. This community service program aimed to train students of SMK Negeri 10 Makassar in Gen-AI-based prompt engineering to accelerate the production of creative content, such as visual designs, scripts, social media content, and promotional materials, in a manner that is effective, efficient, original, and responsible. The program involved 50 students as the strategic target group and was conducted on 22 July 2026 at the school premises. A participatory mentoring approach was applied, consisting of conceptual material delivery, demonstrations of prompt-writing techniques across various Gen-AI tools, hands-on practice in creative content creation, and intensive mentoring. Evaluation was conducted quantitatively and qualitatively through pre-test and post-test instruments to measure gains in digital competence, as well as a satisfaction questionnaire to assess implementation effectiveness. Results indicated a marked improvement in participants' understanding and skill in composing structured, precise, and relevant prompts, alongside tangible creative products such as copywriting, promotional scripts, and visual design assets. Both participants and the partner school expressed strong satisfaction with the program, which is expected to strengthen students' AI literacy and foster ethical, original use of Generative AI in vocational education.
